My copy has been shipped by Booksamillion after only a couple of days since ordering. Contrast that with my Amazon order on June 21 with no action on either of the books I ordered, the other one which was in stock when i ordered was never sent. I cancelled on Amazon and found it with the referenced seller for $97.95. Can't wait to see my copy!

I was on the amazon waitlist for that book too, but it never got fulfilled so I just went out and bought it second hand.

Is it not fulfilled anymore because it's no longer being printed?

Supposedly it was going to be reprinted, but the publisher, Kodansha, is out of business.... I heard this in relation to some aikido books that were also published by Kodansha.

No, they're not out of business, Steve. But the company announced that it was closing its English-language publishing house, Kodansha International, at the end of April 2011. Their American comics publishing house will remain in operation, though, which tells you how they perceive their gaijin audience....

However, much to my amazement, Kodansha USA's Web-site is up & running, & when I searched for Nagayama, I got an Amazon link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/4770020716/thejapanpagecom/ref=nosim) that shows the book is for sale for $54.93...although it shows as temporarily out of stock. Kind of misleading, IMO. The Barnes & Noble link (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/connoisseurs-book-of-Japanese-swords-kokan-nagayama/1101340163?ean=9784770020710) shows it available for $95.20, Powell's (http://www.powells.com/biblio?isbn=4770020716) has one for $175.00, & Amazon Japan (http://www.powells.com/biblio?isbn=4770020716) has one for ¥7,174.

i cancelled my amazon order only after speaking on the phone with their representative who was full of apologies in a hindu accent but had no solutions for me getting my books, and never having a status update. i had to wonder if the ship had sunk. never again will i deal with them for a hard to get item.

After a month of waiting, my book finally arrived....I can die happy now (maybe I will stick around long enough to memorize it) On a sadder note, Booksamillion cancelled my back order for Facts and Fundamentals of Japanese Swords.

PS I also got my copy of Nihonto No Bi from Jason Mazzy, thanks for packing it well bro, the USPS handles mail like airport luggage handlers.

Last time I was there, Kinokuniya in NYC had a few copies at around 70$.

Also I kind of remember a fellow italian board memeber was trying to sell his own copy a few months ago.

Sort of a delema as to what to do when a copy become available for resale. I of course purchased a copy when the book came out for something el cheapo...$65 perhaps. Total shock to see it for sale at a show (after no longer printed) for something like $250 or so. Maybe a realistic price is what Grey is offering it for and cheaper copies found are simply bargains. Everyone enjoys a bargain. Perhaps wise advice, to buy such worthy (useful) books when they come out and enjoy them, learn from them. Ron STL
