Guido Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 The menuki are modern reproductions, Stephen. You can buy them from Namikawa Heibei for 3,500 Yen IIRC. Quote

SwordGuyJoe Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Those are pretty! The menuki are modern reproductions, Stephen. You can buy them from Namikawa Heibei for 3,500 Yen IIRC. This is why I should never be allowed to buy tosogu.... Quote

truelotus Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 stumbled on this one ... seems to be the same theme as yourshttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Superb-Japanese-Edo-Samurai-18-19th-C-Antique-BIG-Issaku-Menuki-Carp-B161-/272023834084?hash=item3f55e24de4:g:c4wAAOSwA4dWKOud Quote
Brian Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 Dunno what it is, but those just give me a very wary feeling. Maybe the lack of any sign of posts at the back, or the fact that they look painted and not patina'd? Colour seems odd too. 1 Quote
