Dojikiri Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 Hi, I am having a sale of books, tsuba & small fittings with 30% off used books www.japaneseswordbooks.com Alan Quote
Brian Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 Alan, How about a bit of an intro and location I am sure many of our members have dealt with you before, but others would love to know who they are dealing with. Also, moving it to a more appropriate section. Good luck with the sale, and good to have a "Grey Doffin" in the UK Btw, is the discount applied off the marked prices, or already reflected in the pricing? Brian Quote
Pete Klein Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 Brian -- Alan Bale is one of the old school book sellers and is held in highest regard by we book collectors. I can vouch for him without reservation. Pete Klein 1 Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 Alan had his site before I had mine; maybe I'm the Alan Bale of the US Grey 1 Quote
Brian Posted October 17, 2015 Report Posted October 17, 2015 Guys, I am not that much of a n00b I know of Alan's site for years, and probably ordered there before. My point was there are hundreds of new collectors here in the past few years, and since he does not interact much on forums etc, it would be good for those guys to get a bit of an intro so they know what we know. Europe is a huge market. yes, Grey..i guess you are correct. But you have marketed yourself well here and online, and easily become the go-to guy for books. Alan has a large and well established clientele, but I hope he can expand that even further here. Brian Quote
Stephen Posted October 17, 2015 Report Posted October 17, 2015 I hope he answers his emails, LOL Quote
Dojikiri Posted October 17, 2015 Author Report Posted October 17, 2015 Hi All, I feel very flattered with the unwarranted praise I received here, for those of you who don't know of me I am based in the UK and have been selling sword/fittings/armour books since 1970. I collect sword fittings but not swords any more. To clear up any confusion the discount on the books is off the marked prices, everything else if reduced has two prices shown, theoriginal and a new lower price next to it. Alan 1 Quote
Stephen Posted October 17, 2015 Report Posted October 17, 2015 I must add its worth your time to check hisTosogu for sale, some very nice items and very fair prices. Quote
Stephen Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Another lose end tie up, Received my set of Crane F/K- kurikata from Alan today and have to let everyone know how well he is to deal with. Kurikata turned out to be signed Naomitsu, once more i expect everything to be gimei now so im not worried about if shoshin or not. Lovely set forgive sloppy cell phone photos with bad light naomitsu lifted off Andys site...any guess? Quote
Jean Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Lovely one and I don't care about gimei. I have a very good gimei futatokoromono (kozuka/kogai) mounted on my Naoe Shizu but I don't care (though I haven't got a ticket to ride...LOL) 1 Quote
Brian Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 Wow..better than the website pics. Those are lovely! Even down to the complex shitodome. As you said, don't know if gimei or not, but they are nice enough not to worry either way. Hard to find a kurikata along with f/k. Quote
