MAXBLISS888 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Good morning! There is a nice looking sword on ebay made by the bitchu no kami tachibana yasuhiro and I heed the warnings against eBay purchases and would like to seek advice on the subject. http://www.ebay.com/itm/321869609301?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Thanks Francis Quote
hxv Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Hi Francis, My first impression is that the mei is genuine and belongs to the 2nd generation Bitchu Yasuhiro. Nidai Yasuhiro is not as well-regarded as the Shodai, who is ranked Chu Josaku by Fujishiro. I think the price is quite a bargain. Disclaimer: please do your own due diligence and don't take my words for it! Regards, Hoanh 1 Quote
Marius Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 This sword seems to have a vanishing hamon (omote, from the middle of the blade). Might be just the photographs. 1 Quote
Geraint Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Hi Francis. Look also at the fit of the habaki, be prepared for the blade and sword to be associated rather than belonging together........... All the best 1 Quote
MAXBLISS888 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Report Posted October 12, 2015 Thanks for all your kind observations! Trying very hard to learn from reading and seeing it from Internet. Hope to find my first hinonto sword soon.. But has been disciplined in finding out more details before buying.... Quote
Marius Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Francis, Watch the for sale section, there is always something popping up there 1 Quote
jesse Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 Francis - I have asked for photo's of the entire hamon explaining that the light/flash washed out a section. (This should clear up the question from Marius.) I have also asked for pictures of both sides of the Nakago with the tsuba and habaki removed. (This should clear up the comment from Geraint.) I will forward them to you if you are still interested. I am also interested in the blade but as the great suggestions listed above point out, I need to validate all that I can before taking a calculated gamble. Quote
jesse Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 Francis - Here are pictures that show the hamon and pics of the Nakago without the tsuba and habaki. Marius and Geraint - I would like to hear your input what with the new pictures. Francis - Please let me know if you are going to bid on this. If you are not, then I probably will. Thanks all Quote
jesse Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 This time with the additional pictures. Quote
jesse Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 Seem to be having a problem posting more then 1 picture at a time. Quote
jesse Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 I have checked my settings and see no place to allow more then a single picture posting at a time. Did not have this problem in the past. Oh well. Quote
jesse Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 Well, I am done for the night. I can't post the last picture of the other side of the Nakago. Sorry. Quote
MAXBLISS888 Posted October 16, 2015 Author Report Posted October 16, 2015 Thanks Jesse for the photo. As I am still learning and reading, I shall not bid for the sword yet. I am not ready.. Quote
