Hakogaki Please

Hi guys,

I'm told this hakogaki is by Dr. Sato and it goes with a namban tsuba that will be for sale. Would someone be nice enough to give me the translation (and Romanji if you're feeling extra generous); it will be appreciated.

The lid seems to be by another person, maybe a previous collector (it also states similar things as mumei nanban,....)

GuysI'm impressed with your ability to read and translate this hakogaki.

Funny, I just noticed that the person who wrote 鳳凰 got the kanji reversed. On the box its written mistakenly as 凰鳳 (ō coming before hō).

 

Could be an honest mistake, as the kanji are indeed similar, but.... the great Kanzan Sato making an error like this on hakogaki?? Seems unlikely.

The Hakogaki on the top of the lid with the Ho-o is likely not by Dr. Sato; someone else maybe.

more likely ji-sukashi 地透かし rather than maru-sukashi im thinkin...

I was thinking ji-sukashi as well, Thomas, but the kanji doesn't seem to fit - although it could just be really stylized

Question (a bit out of topic), about pronunciaion: Hakogaki or hakogake (for shirasaya it is sayagaki) and in the same way: wakizashi or wakazashi?

Hakogaki and wakizashi are both the correct forms. The others I think are typing mistakes.
