Thanks everyone once again for advising me on this. Woody Hall will be polishing the blade just in time for shinsa in Tampa. Hope to see some of you guys there.

Ryan, do you know Dale Garbutt? He is in the Baltimore area and has lots of experience with Nihonto.    John

I actually recently got in contact with him regarding the MD Token Kai. I'll definitely be out there the next time theres a meeting.

John Tirado is one of the best choices for shirasaya and is not too far from you.  Look him up on Facebook.

yes but how does one find him these days.... he has been like a ghost.  I wanted to try and meet up with him possibly with a few pieces and get his opinion. I don't believe he is that far from me.

I tried reaching him via phone and Facebook. No luck yet.

Ended up sending the blade to Yoshihiko Usuki in Japan. His shop was a pleasure to work with and got the job done in less than three months. Couldn't be happier!

Looks to me like the existing shirasaya might be extremely easy to repair.  The blade looks great.

John Tirado is only an hour away from me and did a wonderful job on a new one. He also did some restoration work on the original habaki. Great guy
