flemming7x64 Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 Once again lots of greetings out there. A friend of me is now the lucky owner of a WW II sword, signed. Unfortunately I dont read kanji, but am trying to help him out(he´s new on the field). Can anyone help me read and identify the swordsmith and date, please? Lots of thanks and appreciation, - Flemming Quote
Stephen Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 http://japaneseswordindex.com/oshigata/hiromit3.jpg with a bit of work you can fig the date http://japaneseswordindex.com/kanji/nengo.htm Quote
flemming7x64 Posted August 14, 2015 Author Report Posted August 14, 2015 Amazing, really appreciate it, thank you. Now "only" the name of the smith is a "mystery" to me so far(: Quote
Kai-Gunto Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 it starts with showa =1925 Showa starts 1926. Quote
flemming7x64 Posted August 14, 2015 Author Report Posted August 14, 2015 Now I feel a little bit lost, so the mei states "1926". Is that what is to be presumed, please? - Flemming And again lots of thanks Quote

Baka Gaijin Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 Morning all, Looking closely, I think it reads Ni Ju Nen - 1945 Which may also explain the loose signature and late war mounts. The only Homophone I can find for Ichi Ju is "Ichi Ju San Sai" - One Soup and three side dishes............. Quote
