If anyone with some knowledge of older pieces could give an opinion on this kogai, it would really be appreciated  :)

Many thanks

Dear Ian :)

well?,  mine 1. observation would be-

i do tell you- that Ding does look like- it´s somehow "worn"..."aged"...(so definitely not longer in prime condition)-least for me.

if historically ?- or artificially ?- i sorrowly can not give you any clue actually!

least you could do...

do either post some more fruitful pictures, or you do send me a couple of closeups directly via mail...

some more pictures are needed....from it´s reverse side dito please.

I only ask because the pics make the body of the kogai look like iron- pics are really dark and can't make out much surface detail - could be my monitor.  My initial through was that the "inlay" was red rust on iron, but again, might be the pics just aren't showing up correctly for me.  If any doubts, do a quick magnet test.

If yamagane, does seem to fit the ko-kinko style. but I'll let the experts chime in....

When you look at it, everything about it says iron, but it's not magnetic! I was thinking the warabite might give some ideas ?

Dear Ian,

don´t know what you do try to express me here?

Certainly me, myself, do not see any single point relevant to- let me say "OLD"

so? :dunno:

(1)-i do repeat- "do either post some more fruitful pictures,

(2)-or you do send me a couple of closeups directly via mail...

Arigato! :bang:

in mine "old men" eyes sight...sorrowly not Ian.-Sorry for this!

could you do some better closeups from the carving, structure, details- maybe?

Omote-Ura dito would be nice.

Ko-Kinko is a very hard word! (as you know!)- and i least do see possibility here, if kongruent.

i´d be,

certainly,

serious happy so to can confirm this "eventual" statement either-

instantly do hope, you may be right! (either way)
