Stephen Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 dont remember the name but looks like a head chopper, think we talked about one before Quote
Geraint Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 Kubikiri? http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/unji.htm All the best. Quote
bigjohnshea Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 I think he meant "doe hair" not "deer skin" in the saya. Here is a thread that includes a discussion of it with comments from Guido and the common use of palm fiber to make this effect. http://www.swordforum.com/forums/showthread.php?18613-Hexa-and-octagonal-saya Quote

Toryu2020 Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 So tsuba is nerikawa or lacquered wood? Quote
daishobohi Posted June 10, 2015 Author Report Posted June 10, 2015 Thomas tsuba is Lacquered wood. Yitzy Quote
Jean Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Thanks for providing the measurements, Yitzi, and an overall picture of the blade which gives a better idea of the sword. What is the moto kasane? It must be impressive. Quote
Stephen Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 I know the blade style ....there is a name for these heavy blades meant to cleave off a head. Not meant for battle so no need for iron tsuba. Futuristic with the Levi ito. back to searching for name, I'm sure Gman knows. Quote
Brian Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 It's the dimensions/weight/strength that is being presented as unusual here, nothing to do with regular wakizashi. Need something for scale, like another regular wakizashi to see if the nakago is regular size and the blade is larger, making the nakago look small. Brian Quote
daishobohi Posted June 10, 2015 Author Report Posted June 10, 2015 Thank you Brian your point is right on target yitzy Quote
