Heringsdorf Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Hello, Could some of the more experienced collectors please give me their opinions on this tsuba? Is the mei authentic? I think it says Masatsugu of bushuju And dated 1748. Thanks in advance. Quote
John A Stuart Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 I see no reason to doubt this as being shoshin. John Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 I see a lot of posts asking for opinions recently - which is a good way to get varied opinions from more seasoned collectors. One recommendation that I'd have (and advice that I follow myself), is before asking for others' opinion, understand your own opinion first. This is more difficult than, "It looks cool and the Harmon/tsuba/etc is really fantastic!" It means you need to know what you're looking at and why you like it/why it's a nice piece and fits what you're after. This will avoid you being talked into buying something that long-term won't fit what you want as well as understanding that some of the advice won't align with what you know. Most of us don't know everything and have different goals for our collections that make us biased one way or the other. Just my two cents and with depreciation, worth far less than that. Quote
