Heringsdorf Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Hello all, I'm relatively new at collecting Nihonto and Tosogu. Recently I came across this Tsuba daisho set, I rather likethe mokume style. It's signed Sanei with kao. What is some of the experienced forum members opinion on this set? Is this in good condition, patina... Also any info on the maker would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all. Quote
Toryu2020 Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 Maximillan Beautiful set. What are the dimensions? Love the color, if your photos show the true color, like a bar of chocolate! -t Quote
Heringsdorf Posted June 9, 2015 Author Report Posted June 9, 2015 Hello Mr. Helm, The dimensions are: Large Tsuba : 88.6mm x 83.2mm x 3.6mm Small Tsuba : 79.9mm x 74.5mm x 4.4mm The mei is Sankei (not Sanei) Quote
Geraint Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 I agree with Thomas, a lovely set and seem to be a genuine pairing rather than an associated pair with similar designs as so often seen. All the best Quote
Heringsdorf Posted June 9, 2015 Author Report Posted June 9, 2015 Thank you for the info. Would this set be a good candidate for NBTHK shinsa? Quote
Pete Klein Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 Here is some information for you: Mei looks very close to the bottom right picture so probably good for shinsa. Picture is from Wakayama, 'Toso Kodogu Meijei Taikei', Vol III, pg. 162. The other two are from Haynes. Sorry about the distortions but Haynes Index is a bit difficult to scan. Quote
Heringsdorf Posted June 9, 2015 Author Report Posted June 9, 2015 Thank you Pete for the valuable information. Quote
