nihonto1001 Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Sign me up Bob. I will take one for $100. Had a great time at the last 2 shows. Looking forward to it. Quote
Brian Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Bob, Please make sure to add it to the calendar above, along with as much detail as possible and I'll confirm the post once done. Brian Quote
bob elder Posted May 4, 2015 Author Report Posted May 4, 2015 Just got word that Bill Miller and Arnold Frenzel will have a lecture on Katchushi tsuba. These are sword and armor makers works. A hands-on display as well as a handout will make this a great event to attend. Many thanks to them! 1 Quote
Markus Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Sounds great! Planning to attend but should be able to decide over the weekend. Quote
Henry Wilson Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 Would it be possible to post the katchushi handout on the NMB for those who cannot attend. Good luck the show. Quote
seattle1 Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Hello: I will talk to Bill about posting it after the show Henry. We did something similar at the Tampa show a couple of years ago, but that was just a "looking" selection. In Orlando the idea is to discuss certain pieces to try to extract some educational value from each. Arnold Quote
Markus Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Will be there, but only on Saturday (arrive Friday afternoon though) as I have to be back on Sunday. Arnold, when are you and Bill scheduled? Hope that not everything is scheduled for Sunday but I am still happy to see you all on Saturday. Quote
seattle1 Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Hello Markus: I haven't checked this topic recently or I would have replied sooner. I don't know our time, but would guess it will be Saturday afternoon. We will have a small paper and 16 tsuba illustrated as well and on hand for viewing. The pieces we will discuss are essentially selected for their educational value rather than anything else. Arnold Quote
Markus Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 Thanks for the update Arnold. I've learned that there is a schedule online in the meanwhile and I am glad that most of the program is taking place on Saturday: http://orlandojapaneseswordshow.com/us/schedule/ Looking forward to next weekend! Curran Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Never been to the Orlando Show before. If I survive next week, I will brave the long drive this year for Arnold and Bill's lecture. 1 Quote
Jason Williams Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 I attended the show today, and there was a lot of very informed Nihonto fans onsite. Hopefully, Bob can provide some pictures of some the tables and the products they were offering. Looking forward to the next show Jason Quote
Brian Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 Pics, write-ups, reviews, stories, comments?? Scores, losses or near misses? Brian Quote
nihonto1001 Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 I had a good time catching up with friends, old and new. I also got a chance to study some great swords that a few people brought for show and tell. All in all it was a good time to break up the monotony. I also ate well. A few of us got off the beaten path (way off) for some Vietnamese food at a restaurant called Little Saigon. It was off the hook. 1 Quote
Markus Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 Am so free and forward some pics Joe and Bob shared on FB. Made some new friends and had a great time and I was one of those who took the "scenic route" to Little Saigon Great show and great after show sword study with some outstanding blades! Thank you guys and I am already looking forward to the next show(s). 1 Quote
Markus Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 Post mainly those that were shared with me and on my FB wall, so that's why they might look somewhat egocentric. Quote
nihonto1001 Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 In the last pic, we all had a weird look on our face from the scenic route.LOL I'm the one with the duck face. Quote
