Some have already opened this can of worms but I have to reopen it so forgive me. A lot of people like to argue that the Honjo Masamune sword never left Japan but their was some proof that it did though the name when Phonetic might not b right in the english I will say the first name will more than likely be Cody the last name I am unsure of. I will say this the person that holds that sword and doesn't return it to the family that turned it in has no honor. A sword made by Masamune is of great historical importance to the Japanese people as it is part of their history. Though the papers of the man who I will just call Cody have disappeared for what ever reason I believe that the sword will be found here n America despite what some will think and u can call me "Crazy", "Nuts" and whatever other names u like but if the sword hasn't been really returned because some dickweed wants to make money off of it and not let it be returned home then the person that holds that sword will never have any honor and will be branded a coward by myself if no one else. Though the Honjo had been used long ago its Historical importance to Japan for me is greater than getting any money off of it. If I myself were to find it I would try to find the family that let go of it during the surrender of Japan in 1945. I don't know if this quote is of any importance to the sword fanitics here but I will use it though it might be just me when I say this "A fine sword inherits the soul of its creator. When passed from one warrior to the next and used in the proper manner the sword can b a tool for Justice and Peace. But the opposite can also be true if the warrior that wields the sword improperly or if the sword is kept from being returned then the blade will become tainted with dishonor and loose its edge and eventually the sword that had been created will b forgotten and so shall the Creator of such a blade." Masamune to me though the Honjo blade is his creation would rather see it being honored by it being returned to his home of Japan instead since it hasn't been found yet as I believe it hasn't as those that clam to have it more than likely have forged such a blade to gain fame for their will end up being subtle differences in the blade design as the Honjo was given a specific blade design that will never b copied and no one but Masamune could make himself. I will end my post with this my hope will b that one day the Honjo Masamune blade will return to Japan and that Masamune himself will b honored at its return even in death and to have had an honor of one of his swords made Legend what greater honor is their. Some legends have a truth to them but in the end some legends will die unless things can be found to ascertain that the sword was real at all. I just hope that the sword will be returned to the home it belongs to and that the nobility of the family that held it for so long be restored as well when the blade is found for some a sword represents Honor and Valor when America took away the samurai sword away we destroyed many swords that can never be replaced and many of those would have been made by masters in their own right and my deepest regret is that the swords that had been melted down and turned into scrap the makers of those swords that weren't mass produced were saddened by their destruction and would wish otherwise. Forgive my long winded notation but I watched the "Lost Treasures" episode on the Honjo and it struck me as funny and my mind won't allow me to sleep for the name of the man that took it runs through my head and I just know his first name is Cody. Whoever this Cody is I am certain that he brought the sword here to America and it lies with his family though they might not know it unless someone could describe the sword in detail give the length and what is on the hilt of the blade. Till someone that gives out those facts comes out more than likely we will hear about the Honjo Masamune blade forever being found or said it has been found and it will prove to be another forgery for the true maker of that blade made sure his pattern could never be duplicated of this I am certian.

Ray, is it?

The Hojo Masamune has been discussed and described in detail here many times. Yes, it is likely in the USA with someone who does not know what it is. Or it has been destroyed. Hopefully oneday it will be found.

Important to note that it is not Masamune's finest masterpiece at all...and there are far more important swords in existence. There is enough info on it so that it will be identified if it surfaces oneday. There are lots of National Treasure swords still out there that are missing.

Btw, a little more punctuation would make that a lot easier to read ;-)

Glad to see you are passionate about Japanese swords.

The other 14 swords that were with it are easily identified so it's either in the collection of someone who knows what they have either in the usa or Japan, or it's been destroyed.
