IanB Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Paul, There are several detachable ladder sights illustrated in the catalogue 'Military Accessories of a Daimyo House' from the Tokugawa Art Museum Nagoya. They also illustrate some fabulous guns, powder flasks, loading gear and the rest. Two of the ladder sights have a peg at the base that fits into a horizontal hole through the rear sight block - another has a tapered box at the base that fitted over the rear sight - the taper holding it in place I assume. There are other items that I am less sure how they fitted. Ian Bottomley Quote

estcrh Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 From Japanese weapons.net From evidence still visible on the rear sights, such as slits and horizontal and vertically bored holes, we try to envisage and understand what adjustment devices may have been used. Our Japanese home page features a short thesis, with photos, by Mr. Tojiro Murakami; a gunsmith who specialises in traditional Japanese gun sights. The managing director of the Firearms Historical Academy of Japan, Dr. Utagawa, has also extended us a full invitation to make use of their historical documents. http://www.xn--u9j370humdba539qcybpym.jp/thesis/101213/ron_sugawa20101213_3.pdf Quote
PauDee Posted April 5, 2015 Author Report Posted April 5, 2015 Here is a picture of my rearsight with the brass ajustment , the shots came of 30 cm low at 50 mtr , so I had to ajust 5,5 mm . I id mot alter the shape of the sight just make it higher . Would this get past amrs control ? Paul Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 Lovely looking work, but no idea of the modern regulations. Here is an adjustable rear sight on an Awa long gun. Notice the decorated finger grips for sliding it out before swinging it up into place. 1 Quote
