Oruginal Sight Ajustment Divices

On the websight of Japanese weapons .net , under musium there should be some pictures or scetches of original sight ajustment divices .

Bud i get only empty places where the pictures should be .

Has any one of You pictures or scetches of these divices ?

Paul,  There are several detachable ladder sights illustrated in the catalogue 'Military Accessories of a Daimyo House' from the Tokugawa Art Museum Nagoya. They also illustrate some fabulous guns, powder flasks, loading gear and the rest. Two of the ladder sights have a peg at the base that fits into a horizontal hole through the rear sight block - another has a tapered box at the base that fitted over the rear sight - the taper holding it in place I assume. There are other items that I am less sure how they fitted.

Ian , thanks for the info , I have found one following a link on this board .

It is one for a "lattice shape" and this one make sence to me , how ever I have a "channeled shape" as in Mr. Sugawa's book  pg 35 .

Paul can you post a picture of yours so we can se exctly what you are describing? Here is the only picture of a Japanese matchlock sight that I know of other than prints.

Here is a picture of my rearsight with the brass ajustment , the shots came of 30 cm low at 50 mtr , so I had to ajust 5,5 mm .

 

I id mot alter the shape of the sight just make it higher .

 

Would this get past amrs control ?

Lovely looking work, but no idea of the modern regulations.

 

Here is an adjustable rear sight on an Awa long gun. Notice the decorated finger grips for sliding it out before swinging it up into place.
