Hi Guys,

Here is the hozon certificate of the koshirae which comes along with my last sword. If anyone could translate the small kanji describing the F/K (Shakudo), the menuki (Yamagane), and above all the tsuba, I'll be grateful. It is described as uchigatana and I think it is because of the tsuba which is not Aoi gata shape. otherwise it will be described as handachi.

I just saw that koshirae yesterday while I was browsing and I thought that is a great and classy koshirae... until I saw the tsuba. :) I just don't like that tsuba at all, too loud for my taste.

Hopefully more experienced folks will chime in and correct if I'm wrong, as I'm so slow it'll take me too long to get whole translation figured out...

Here is what I see on the first line. Fuchi, kashira, seme, kojiri - shakudoji 素紋 (I am thinking these 2 would mean plain design without mon) mumei.

Hi Henry,

Yes the small writting seems to describe the tosogu. Concerning the tsuba have you any idea of the school? The fukurin seems to be lacquered (some of the lacquer has flaked away).

Hi Jean

No school as far as I can tell. Only the workmanship seems to be described in detail. I think the tsuba has black lacquered but I am viewing from my phone which is making cross referencing hard. I am sure others who can help more roll be along. Extremely nice by the way :)
