It is just a plain wooden standard size box.  I have reduced my collection a lot and a sword tansu takes up too much space, so I sold mine and got a box instead, just like the one below:

Yours is old old, the item was found with that box.

Yes...I didn't mean it was a modern one...but it is the same style/tradition. And a great thing to have with a sword. Obviously the modern ones are made to the old tradition to this day.

What is wrong with an old box if it is in good condition? I like the look and feel of old wood.

Nothing. Many times though an older box has issues that render it unfit or less than ideal for its intended purpose. Wood warps and shrinks, joints become loose, insects chew holes, cracks develop, etc., all of which can cause poor sealing.
