Gilles Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Dear all, I got this teppo for years and I cleaned it today. It is signed beneath the barrel by the smith with a kao and some markings are stamped above like it was belonging to an armory. Can you help me to decipher those kanjis ? Sorry for the quality of the pictures. Thank you for your active help. Quote

Brian Posted February 14, 2015 Report Posted February 14, 2015 I played around with the pics a bit and rotated them in the hope that someone will be able to assist Gilles. The markings above the lug are usually the amount of wraps used in manufacture maybe? Brian Quote

Justin Grant Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 The stamped marking are the registration markings at or around the Meiji Restoration time. All guns were inventoried and marked. Quote
