Ed Hicks Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 I have no images of the blade yet and the owner asked my opinion on this mei. I know little about Tadahiro and this isn't close to any I have referenced so far. Opinions welcome and thanks for looking. Covered in grease...The blade is well made and I thought it was a gendaito before I removed the tsuka. The hamachi has not been touched and the blade appears to be in its first polish. Tight hada with active suguha Hamon. I'll try to post images if I can get them soon. Ed Quote
Lee Bray Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 Have you tried Roger Robertshaw at Hizento.net? Nakago jiri looks good, as does the yasurimei and the overall look of the nakago. The mei itself perhaps looks weak at first glance without referencing his papered works but that's just an impression rather than a firm opinion. The tight hada and active suguha would also support Tadahiro's work. Give Roger a shout and get his opinion then think about shinsa based on that. Quote
cabowen Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 The blade has ubu-ba and it is proporting to be 300+ years old? Unless it came out of a shrine or temple, to me, that would be enough to conclude it is gimei.... Quote
