LakeBum Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 Hey guys, out of my price range but it is rare enough that I thought some of you might like to know. Not in polish but still looks like the real deal to my untrained eye. Well, for some reason my computer will not let me copy and paste but search Very Nice Japanese Naval Officers Kai Gunto Sword Minatogawa, on Ebay to find it. Quote
cabowen Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 It's the real deal.... Price seems a bit....optimistic? Quote
LakeBum Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 What I thought too, but I don't see many of them go up for sale. Quote
cabowen Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 I have seen a few sell in recent years for roughly what the nicer Yasukuni blades fetch. I know several collectors in the Kobe area who collect these and they are definitely popular in certain circles. Perhaps it is a case of throwing out a huge price and hoping to hook someone...Seems there are several ebay sword sellers who do this routinely. Quote
LakeBum Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 I would love to get a Minatogawa blade someday, but it will probably not be my first. I thought that these blades in decent condition went 6k to 8k thought. There is one guy for the last 2 months that has tried to get 2k for a machine made blade. Quote
Stephen Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 for that price id want him to throw in a ito rewrap that one has been buggered.http://www.ebay.com/itm/VERY-NICE-Japanese-NAVAL-OFFICERS-KAI-GUNTO-SWORD-MINATOGAWA-/201267050220?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2edc7376ec Quote
reeder Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 He's always had a number of "very nice" blades with big price tags. Always had cool stuff though. I'm still crying over the Masayuki with the 34" cutting edge that was recently relisted that I mkssed on the 1st go. It originally sold for $900 w/ blue/brown officers tassel. I hit the buy now button and when it refreshed another had just beat me to it. Quote
