Over the past few months I have watched several of this seller's items. I purchased a blade a month or so ago from him and was very disappointed when I received the item. Kind of heart broken in fact, till I re-examined this listing and determined that my disappointment was due to my IGNORANCE. The seller had apropriately represented the blade for what it was, but I had not fully examined the details. A lesson learned!!! Thankfully, not an expensive lesson.

The seller, in my inexperienced opinion seems to offer some really nice looking blades. Have any of you had any dealings with "historian333"?

never delt with him but the item he or she list seems fair priced at first glance, he does sell alot of rusty and messed up items so you have to check the picture carefully and read the description with attention :)

Yes I have bought from Mike Yamaguchi and find him to

be fair in his dealings. I have bought some quality swords as well.

He has some good sources from Japan,

and manages to provide a good range of nihonto values.

You do not have to worry about him at all. He answers questions too.

The points raised by the previous two members are also correct and

should not be overlooked in any event. The advice probably applies to all transactions.

Mike is regarded as one of the good sellers, and the fact that his auctions attract more bids than others, shows that others see this too.

This thread: http://www.militaria.co.za/nihontomessa ... =yamaguchi also confirms this. As always, read the descriptions very carefully. If he says it is very out of polish or rusty or no guarantee of no fatal flaws, then he means it!

As I previously stated, my first experience with him was not the best, but I accept full responsibilty. Had I paid closer attentionto the details, I most likey would not have purchased the piece. It was a learning experience that taught me well.

I have seen many beautifull blades in his auctions. I'm watching a couple of them now and hope to win at least one of them.

I got a rusty wak in plain saya from him this month. One of those "perfect for polishing practice, sold as is" (no, not doing it myself, don't worry). Prefectly happy with it, anyway, the guy seems honest about representation and shipping is fast. Will buy from him again.

I have bought few things from Mike. He's always putting very detailed and fair descriptions of his items (fair prices too). No doubt I'll be buying from him again as soon as something interesting pops up. :D

In my humble oppinion Mike is one of the best dealers on eBay if not to say the best. He is honest and cares for his customers. I got some good deals from him over the years.

Yes, I have bought a few pieces from historian333 (Mike Yamaguchi). Mike is 100% trustworthy (I wish all nihonto dealers were like him) and he never hides anything. You only have to know what you are buying. Study his photos carefully, read his item descriptions as well. He will always have honest descriptions, with all flaws listed (and visible in his pics). Do not expect him, however, to explain basic terms like "hagire" in his descriptions.

BTW, Mike has now a second eBay ID - komonjo, which he uses for his consignment swords.

Best regards

Mike Yamaguchi is what we refer to as a "cowboy" around here. That is a good thing. He has been honorable in my dealings with him.

Im so glad you qualified the term "cowboy", as here in Australia it NOT a term of endearment. In fact it means reckless and untrustworthy.

Cheers

Mike is one of the best dealers on eBay. He offers a wide range of Nihonto at fair prices. What you see is what you get. Also his shipping is fast and communicatinon is excellent. I have bought a few things from him and was never disappointed with my purchases. Esepecially his stuff from Japan has lots of bang for the buck.

I am sorely tempted to add my 3 cents on being " cowboy "...but my current position does not allow me to talk politics..... :doubt:

milt the flying ronin

Cowboy + Politic = Bush?

As for this ebay seller, i just wish ppl would stop fighting (and paying absurd amount of money) over the rusted out blades that he sale so i could get more and fit them with habaki!
