IBERIAN Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 GREETINGS TO ALL. OPINION OF THIS TANTO. SWORDSMITH, ANY REFERENCE,... ?. THANKS. JOSE. Quote
Jamie Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 You might consider turning the picture upright so people can read it as it's written. You might also post a pic of the whole bare blade, no Habaki. Hope this helps Quote
Chishiki Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 Hi. Is there a kanji under that habaki? The 1st visible kanji reads Tane followed by a Kao. So your mei is probably Naotane with Kao. A big name and yours doesn't look right for a number of reasons. There is the starting point for you. Info comes from Colin McDonald. Regards Mark Quote
Andi B. Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 Was the tang cleaned maybe with a wire brush? ....red? rust is in the kanji but not on the rest of the nakago... :| Quote
IBERIAN Posted December 13, 2014 Author Report Posted December 13, 2014 Greetings to all. Me too I got the impression that the mei had rust and the rest had no remains of patina. It made me wonder. Thanks to your comments we learn slowly. I thank you for your cooperation. Jose. Quote
