IBERIAN Posted November 21, 2014 Author Report Posted November 21, 2014 Hello Steve, Glad to greet you. Not paint, Is ancient solidified fat that has formed a layer formed of paint. The previous owner had it as well. Incomprehensible. In mekugi-ana look better grease (fat) residues. A greeting. Quote

IBERIAN Posted November 21, 2014 Author Report Posted November 21, 2014 Thanks Steven, I think that museums use a Wax to prevent rust swords but do not know which is most desirable. I have never dared to touch a Nakago. Jose. Quote
IBERIAN Posted November 21, 2014 Author Report Posted November 21, 2014 Sorry Stephen, I copied the wrong name. Know any methods to prevent oxidation advisable?. Jose. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted November 21, 2014 Report Posted November 21, 2014 Hi Jose, The black patina on the nakago is protective. Kept dry and undisturbed it will prevent the formation of active red rust. I would carefully clean off the gunk with the least intrusive method (would alcohol cut the gunk?) and leave it be. Grey Quote
IBERIAN Posted November 22, 2014 Author Report Posted November 22, 2014 Ok Grey, I think I better not touch, Maybe little test with alcohol, A greeting, Jose. Quote
