Brian,

Read your post so I thought I would take a look. I don't know their deal, but it appears they pull stuff from Yahoo Japan(at least some of it), then try to sell it on flea-bay for heavily inflated prices.

Just as an example I picked one sword Sukesada from their e-bay listing, went to yahooJP and found it there also for sale.

They are asking $6300 on e-bay, yet on Yahoojp is is currently under $500 (49000Y), though it does still have 4 days to go and will most likely go up considerably, but I doubt that much.

If you want to see it:

Be very careful of these guys, Ed! My mentor had a problem with a blade that showed up that wasn't at all what was advertised, but they refused to honor the return. He had to go through eBay to get his money back, & he was threatened with a lawsuit on top of all the hassle.

Ken, no problem. I only took a look at it due to Brian's post. I would never buy from them. It is very, very rare for me to even look at flea-bay, much less buy something Nihonto related. Even with non Nihonto related stuff if I happen to see something I want on flea-bay, I always go check for it on Amazon. Generally Amazon has it and has it cheaper.

Hi Everyone,

I agree with Ken I would avoid completely the "Japanese Antiques Trading Center" on eBay. I followed a number of Japanese sellers on eBay that I do trust that don't engage in these underhanded practices. Their practices have been discussed on this forum in a fair amount of detail and the link to the topic was provided by Brian.

Thanks Gentlemen:

- I do recall reading about it but they seemed to all of a sudden get a lot of stuff on Fleabay so I wondered where it came from - they are probably pre-selling bids on the auction sites. Never safe is it - glad we have some exceptional dealers that are honest and good judges of the type of material collectors are looking for rather than newbies being ripped off.
