Dear gentlemen,

here is an old guy with a nice impressive face, looks like he had some hard times in life..

what do you think about the quality and composition..

i really enjoy the golden leaves, the are quite organic and have an "aged" touch of weathering to it.

cheers, Nikolas

Hi Nikolas,

nice fuchi indeed. The subject depicted is probably Taikōbō (太公望), also known in China as Lu Shang or Taigong.

Bye, Mauro

here is what is inscribed on the fuchi... nagatsune + kao

shoshin or gimei.. in hand it is really beautiful and delicately carved.. the insciption is not that way off but you van find irregularities.

if any of you guys can shed a bit of light on the subject, i would be very pleased :D

:thanks:

One of the most telling factors to me in assesing the quality of figurals is the visage. If it has character and expression, that shows its artfulness, its worth. Look at this one and compare with the piece you were asking whether it was Goto or not, one reply said Kaga-Goto. John

You are right. He is Taikōbō (太公望).
