I have no clue how much it would cost to repair the damage on this (I'm betting $5-$6 hundred with postage etc,) but I think it's a nice strong blade with a wild hamon. Just the way I like my useable antiques.

 

To me, it looks like someone used it to cut a (live) electrical wire. The blade looks cooked all around the gouge.

 

I'd probably have to buy it just to save it if I saw it in person.
