cabowen Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 You are on the right track I think...Last kanji, bottom right, is toshi 寿 Quote
Nikolas Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Posted September 4, 2014 Hi Chris, thanks a lot but here i am on a dead end! i try but... i can not get any further i thought Katsutoshi but no.. im sorry..this is too hard for me at my current level greetings! Quote
Nikolas Posted September 8, 2014 Author Report Posted September 8, 2014 ah i see.. thank you Morita san to clearify that up!! so i take the 42 years of kinotomi and count them up from the last known 60 year cycle.. 1804+42(41)=1845 and then koka 1844-1847 .. so 1845 = 2year of koka.. Also many thanks for the mei? i seems to be a real tough one... could it be, the kozuka was made in 1845 as a gift for some lucky day and there is no mei but kind of a good wish inscribed? Anyway i am sure it will be solved one day Here are yome more close ups.. greetings!! Quote
Nikolas Posted September 20, 2014 Author Report Posted September 20, 2014 Dear gentlemen, could the kanji on the lower left read - kore - greetings! Quote
k morita Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Hi, Maybe not "kore". I take a guess the right motif on this Kozuka is one of picture puzzle(判じ絵). A bird and winnowing basket means wealth.(鳥の「と」と箕の「み」で富) A flower and dropping(?) means the fortunes of a family.(花の「か」と糞「うん」で家運) The Kanji "Kakuju" means long life. か祢 means money.(?) Quote
Nikolas Posted September 20, 2014 Author Report Posted September 20, 2014 Thanks a lot Morita san, for your help and effort!! that sound convinving... on the other hand, i can not really see the kanji you depicted.. but what do i know of Japanese kanji and even sosho writing maybe you can enlight me how to see the kanji in the sosho script with a lot of wish i could see the kanji variation for toshi in the lower right, that Chris has posted, and i also can see hai/sakazuki on the upper left. i have made a drawing, of the tagane what made up the kanji.. sometimes hard to distinguish from the decoration tagane.
