estcrh Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 I have never seen this shape of fukuro yari before, it looks like a kikuchi fukuro yari, does anyone know the correct name for this? Quote

Brian Yep it is sold but here is a link to the sales page. http://www.e-sword.jp/sale/2013/1310_4035syousai.htm Here is a link with some really nice yari and naginata including a fukuro naginata for anyone interested. http://www.e-sword.jp/baiyaku/baiyaku_sw4.htm Quote
b.hennick Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks Eric: Great link to yari and naginata. I think that the nakago of the naginata broke and the piece to allow attaching to a pole was welded on. For those who want to see the naginata it is at the bottom of the page. Quote
Brian Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Barry, If you mean the Chikushi naginata, then no..I think it was made that way. Similar to this one... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19755 Brian Quote
b.hennick Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 It certainly looks similar! It seems to be a strange way to make a naginata. I noted the blade on Aoi Arts before Ken started his thread on it. If a naginata had a broken tang and one wanted to save the blade for use as a pole arm what options are available? It seems that adding a piece to fit a pole is one. Welding on a new tang is another. Quote
