Lingonberry Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 Silly newbie question here... What can and cannot be restored on a suit of armor? I know many merchants sell replacement shikoro and small hardware but I haven't yet seen anything about repairing rust or damaged lacquer. The reason I ask is because a gun store near me has a suit of armor that has seen better days and they're thinking about getting it fixed up. Depending on whether or not it can be fixed up (and if it's worth the money) I might have a go at it. The armor itself is currently fairly inexpensive but I'd rather not get burned... Quote
John A Stuart Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 That is a million dollar question. There are conservators and restorers and never the twain shall meet. Asking an armour specialist would be the first stop, the banker the second. John Quote
uwe Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 Hi Adam, pics would be helpful! Otherwise John is right, almost all parts can be fixed, restored or replaced. It's a question of money and time Regards Uwe Quote
Lingonberry Posted August 20, 2014 Author Report Posted August 20, 2014 I was going to stop by the store and get some pictures after work today but I called them up to ask permission first and was informed that the armor is no longer available. Though I am disappointed I think that might be for the best. If I remember correctly the armor was in pretty poor condition and would've cost an arm and a leg to fix up. Guess I'll keep saving my pennies for a Myochin kabuto... Quote
uwe Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 Look for an "Saotome" kabuto. It will also cost some body parts ..... :D Cheers Uwe Quote
