alx Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Hello everyone, with a bit of luck I recently got a gunto, I always loved Japanese katana and well, somehow it fell into my hands now. I disassembled the grip and found a mei on the blade. It seems the mei used to be longer but was cut to fit the gunto grip, so I assume the blade is older and was turned into a gunto during ww2 or earlier. I tried to translate the mei but since I am german and got no idea on Japanese, I failed after some hours with no result. Can someone help me to translate at least the "remaining" part? I tried to photoshop it up so that it is readable on the picture, hope that helps. Thanks, Alex Quote

alx Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 Thanks a lot for your help, I am happy to know a few things about my first Japanese sword Was my google search right that this means "resident of Bizen"? Quote
Geraint Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 So we would like to see more pictures Alex, whole blade at least. All the best. Quote
alx Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 Here is a pic, the blade is dull and you sadly can't see much of the material. Maybe someone has a hint of qualified sword polisher as well? Quote
