b.hennick Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 If you can find copper seppa you could have them silver plated or wrap them in silver foil.
Stephen Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 looking for seppa also, catch me while I have cash!
sanjuro Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Believe me I appreciate the motivation for such a request and i do not wish to be the wet blanket that rains on your parade. (pardon the mixed metaphore). Having collected for many years i have accumulated quite a few seppa. Matched sets. Tachi Katana and Naginata mostly. Gold and silver foiled. Muromachi Momoyama and Edo period examples. To be honest and I think I would speak for most collectors, I find them the most difficult to find and the most likely to be misssing of any item of the Koshirae. They are also the item i would most likely buy in an auction lot. Not that there are many of them sold that way any more, although you could once buy them strung on a piece of string or copper wire, a few dollars for a couple of dozen of them. No longer...... Now they are the sort of thing one keeps just in case, and grabs when clean examples come up for sale. Good luck in your quest.
flemming7x64 Posted August 6, 2014 Author Report Posted August 6, 2014 Thanks for the input, guys! - Kind regards - Flemming
Bugyotsuji Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 Mentioned this to a knowledgeable friend and he said you will need to have them made up to fit your blade. Traditionally copper with a very thin skin of silver, (never made entirely of pure silver), they would not allow any filing or adjustment without compromising their integrity.
Jim Rogers Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 If you're still looking, these are interesting (not mine). http://www.ebay.com/itm/291214801144?ss ... 1423.l2649
