nihonto1001 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I am a bit skeptical. Has anyone heard or dealt with this person? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Sword-Sashi-komi-Kenma-Classical-style-polish-Service-Nakajima-Jr-/221510370348?pt=Asian_Antiques&hash=item33930c042c Quote
Curran Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 You gotsa be kidding me. This has to be the San Fran Ninja.... whats his name?. Guy driving around in a van with a sign on it. Just guessing by the location that it is that infamous 'not deal with' dude. Quote
b.hennick Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Someone should ask him to bring examples to the San Francisco show. Quote
Soshin Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I am a bit skeptical. You don't say... for $35.00 I would love to see what is done. Quote
Brian Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 That is per inch. Also breaking eBay's rules for listings. Brian Quote
nihonto1001 Posted August 1, 2014 Author Report Posted August 1, 2014 I guess size really does matter in regards to having one's Katana polished. Quote
Surfson Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 He offers many services but has a feedback rating on ebay of zero, so he either is just starting, makes all of his deals off of ebay or has no customers. I emailed him to see if i can visit his studio. I have a few "steel tsunagi" hirazukuri blades in nice koshirae that I might drop a few hundred just to get them presentable. Quote
Soshin Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 That is per inch. Also breaking eBay's rules for listings. Brian Hi Brian, Yes per inch but that is still cheap. What are the eBay rules governing this type of listing? Quote
Grey Doffin Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 I just reported him; others should do the same. Grey 1 Quote
jlmeadowsjr Posted March 17, 2015 Report Posted March 17, 2015 I just noticed that hes at it again, still has a (0) rating James M Quote
Grey Doffin Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 Report him every time you see his sale on ebay. Maybe ebay will finally take him down and we will have saved a sword. Grey Quote
Soshin Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 Hi Everyone, Someone a few months ago sent me a message on my website about Japanese sword polishing services on eBay and sent a link to this seller post on eBay. I told him to avoid this person and gave him Bob Benson's contact information as a professional polisher of Japanese swords in the USA. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 I do believe this is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle from San Francisco, or at least that's what we called him back when he 1st surfaced. My first knowledge of his work was when a friend (who should have known better) gave him a nice wakizashi for polish. The blade came back completely screwed up, a godawful ugly mess. When the friend complained he was told that this had been a particularly difficult job and it could be put right if the friend would allow the polisher to make the wakizashi into a tanto. I kid you not. Grey 2 Quote

Can't find the right emoticon for crying, laughing, and vomiting with rage at the very same time. 2 Quote
Jean Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 You need a Physician emotico, David :-) 1 Quote
nihonto1001 Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 It is good to find swords out of the wood work. But, with togishi, there are few hidden treasures. 1 Quote
Art Torano Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 One would think that this individual would be familier with NMB if he is providing these services and introduce himself and his services to this community. Much like Kunitaro has and make it a point to answer your all your questions. Although this add seems somewhat more sophisticated than what the "usual suspect' has done in the past. My two cents, Art Torano Quote
SAS Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 I was looking on ebay and saw a bunch of rusty swords for sale from komonjo in the Berkeley area; this Nakajima Jr. is in Oakland......could they be the same person? I wonder....... Quote
Brian Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 I see absolutely no link at all between this guy and Komonjo. I don't think it fair to even hint at a link based purely on Geography. No. If there was a link, Komonjo would be selling all those project blades already polished. Let's not turn into a rumour mill plz. 2 Quote
SAS Posted October 8, 2015 Report Posted October 8, 2015 Funny how my post disappeared for a couple of days. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 8, 2015 Report Posted October 8, 2015 I have met and done business outside of ebay with the seller who goes by Komonjo. I find him to be a very decent fellow and I'm certain he has nothing to do with the Mutant Ninja Turtle or any other phony baloney polishing service in The Bay Area. Grey 4 Quote
Stephen Posted October 8, 2015 Report Posted October 8, 2015 Komonjo gets a bad rap because of items he sells for others, i asked him about a sale once and he said Stephen you dont want this. Hes not a crook, its just a business. 3 Quote
