Edition 2 is out.

If you read my previous posts on FB, you would have seen that there was copyright problems with this vid. It has been rigorously edited to a former shadow of itself, so as to try to avoid any copyright issues, and not get anyone but myself in trouble. Get it while it is hot, as it may get blocked or taken down soon.

Paul,

Many thanks for the upload of the magazine edition and, hopefully, there will not be any copyright problems. Your photography and presentation of the various blades, koshirae and tosogu are great. I hope the exhibition will soon come to the UK as well.

Ganbatte kudasai.

Best,

Michael

Hi Paul,

Thankyou for posting. Gives a new insight into how swords are targeting the new generation.

Particularly like the close-ups and pan. Did you use a camera slider? Some of the footage look too good to come from a 60D, a new camera?

Thanks

Thank you very much for your compliments.

Wah, No. All shot without a slider on a 60D. Just a monopod at times. All the blades were in cases, and with the public dipping in and out. Lost some clarity on some shots as I had to digital zoom in post production to cut out Evangelion images as much as possible.

A few years ago I would'nt have thought Japanese smiths would err on the tradition especially after Yoshindo's "Pink Panther" got him in some bother with the authority. Now I guess something like this would be possible to commision from a reputable smith?

Wow, great work Paul

Though I am still struggling to believe my eyes. For me personally it is difficult to associate Nihonto with anime.

But well, it is Japanese culture - it’s their game and so they make the rules…
