Martin Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Hi all, I´m just back from my holidays and hopefully expected to receive an email on the outcome of a Shinsa. But obviously it takes quite some time for the NBTHK to communicate the results. The sword in question was bought at the beginning of March and I asked the dealer to present it to the next Tokubetsu Hozon Shinsa. Upon request the dealer told me to be patient. Does anybody have any experience to share on how long it usually takes to get the Shinsa result and the papers? thanks in advance, Martin Quote
paulb Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Martin, a friend of mine bought a sword last month from AOI-Art and asked them to submit to the NBTHK. They were happy to do this but said owing to the backlog of submissions he would not get the sword (or result) until October. They were quoting approx 6 months from submission. Interested if this has been others experience. regards Paul Quote
Ed Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Oh yeah. The results of the last few items I submitted took forever to get. I was told it was due to the incredibly large numbers items being submitted. All you can do is be patient, the results are slow, the papers slower. Quote
Martin Posted August 1, 2007 Author Report Posted August 1, 2007 Hi Paul & Ed, thanks for your response. I meanwhile also discovered some similar information on Bob Bensons website ( http://www.bushidojapaneseswords.com/nbthkshinsa.htm ). Seems like we have to be patient (as hard it might be ). cheers, Martin Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Or you can be lucky as I was & get the origami back in five days. Not sure how things happened so fast, but I certainly wasn't complaining! :D Quote
bdgrange Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 My source has advised that there is a backlog with the NBTHK. I have been waiting for April results with one piece submitted. regards bdgrange Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 so, i guess that if you personally take a sword to shinsa you get the paper the same day, and if you send it takes much longer? KM Quote
Darcy Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Swords I submitted to Juyo in September 2005 finally got their papers a couple of months ago. :-). So yeah, things are slooooowwwww. Quote
Martin Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 Just got a message from Tsuruta-San in which he informs me about the (positive) result of the March Shinsa :D Quote
