Help with smith's name

Hi guys,

I'm adding Nihonto Taikan to my Index and have come hard up against an unknown smith. I get Bizen no Kuni no Ju: Chosen, Nagafuna, or Nagafune. But I can find no reference anywhere to any of those 3. What am I missing please.

Hi Grey,

 

Can we get a little more context? I mean, I see Bizen no kuni jū Osafune… and then nothing. Is the Taikan making some kind of reference to Osafune smiths in general perhaps? Is it a typo (missing gō)? Not sure.

 

I feel pretty silly making this post as I can't imagine that you'd not notice 長船 Osafune… Now I'm worried I'm making some kind of "brain fart" mistake myself, or being insulting!

Gabriel, You think you feel silly... Sometimes I get too caught up doing one thing (reading smith's names) and can't see the forest for the trees (didn't recognize Osafune).

Grey no worries mate, better known as a brain fart, and don't feel bad I had hawlyes out and going thru Nagas until I read one with osafune came back and Gabe had exposed, so glad I did not have to tell. lol

I assumed this was a send up of somebody. My immediate reaction - ahh, fear - was that you were teasing me for some silly question I had posed. Like the published author who really did say, "Gee, here's another sword by Mumei. He sure did make a lot of swords."
