Brian Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Miki, Since the auction is obviously one of Eric's, and he fully describes his items in detail, why not start with what he had to say about it? Brian Quote
schuki Posted June 21, 2014 Author Report Posted June 21, 2014 Hi, thanks for the reply, appreciate all, Yes, it is true, reason I am "here" is simply that this is the first time I have contact with Eric, I do not know him at all and do not know what he is selling, you have to agree that this would have been much doomed, if you are now in my situation, to blindly believe to every person you meet for the first time.if Eric is now a trustworthy guy?, I'm confident that in recent contact with him will I natural way believe his words. Do you know this Eric?, Is he OK?, Then I ask for excuse that I have possibly violated the picture of him in any way, then I "sleep safely".Sorry but there are, unfortunately, so many out there trying to fool people, you have to be extra careful, that's all. Stephen Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 YOUR asking after you buy? your safe this time Quote
schuki Posted June 21, 2014 Author Report Posted June 21, 2014 thank goodness for that, yet another proof that one can never be wise enough Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 It looks traditionally made and the yasirime are exceptionally well done. Quote
Brian Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Eric knows Nihonto, and I think you can go with the translation and info he provided. Like all auctions, check all pics and ask questions of you have them. But he is a known and knowledgeable seller. You can search the forum for his name to see feedback here. I think you will be fine. Looks good. And yes...nothing slips past us...seldom that the NMB won't instantly identify an online item Brian Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Hi guys, I recently purchased this Katana ....., I mean, you can not run and hide from the truth, right?, so true! Quote
Stephen Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 lets talk about the yasirime, is it just me or are we seeing guntos with extra wide file cuts lately, I had a gut feeling about one recently and feel the same on this one, most gendaito ive had in kesho file cuts were very fine. Chris your the man on these blades, whats your take on these deeper wider cuts? Quote
cabowen Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 They are called ippon-yasuri and take a lot of time and effort to due properly. We see them sometimes in the work of WWII era smiths, sometimes well done, sometimes not...They are seen in some Gassan group smith's work and also in the Hosokawa smiths from Shinshinto. Quote
schuki Posted June 21, 2014 Author Report Posted June 21, 2014 you need to stop guys, I start getting goose bumps, unfortunately,to meet an honest and trustworthy seller of Japanese swords?,today?,is equal difficult as to hit a virgin at age of 30,especially at the first attempt as in my case. I have not also seen this type of file marks before, it looks awesome, when they are well-made!.I could not contact you before guys about my purchase because there was not much time dispensing, USA Sweden is, type, 8 hours difference and I had not much time to expand on the research so I took a chance. Brian, thank you so much, this is more than sufficient for my part, I've already been in contact with Eric and asked him directly to Apology for my behavior, and explained why.Thankful also that there is this kind of forum where nothing goes unseen. SwordGuyJoe Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 You'll find that most - but certainly not all - dealers are honest and fair to deal with. It's a pretty small community and a bad reputation will kill a sale (or purchase for that matter), so dealers with poor reputations run the risk of not lasting long. eBay is an exception, as there are a TON of garbage and fakes. So count yourself lucky! I was watching this auction as the sword seemed decent and the work on the nakago is unusually good - especially from Seki and especially not one of their big names like Kanenobu, Kanenaga, Kanehide, etc.). Well done and welcome to the habit, I mean club... Quote
