hxv Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Greetings, The attached mei stumped me. I could only make out Muramasa and nothing else. I don't think this is a gimei attempt of the famous Muramasa line, but perhaps some unknown smith. Any help would be much appreciated as always. I believe this is a shinto blade, 28" nagasa. I don't have a picture of the suguta right now but will provide it tomorrow. Provided along with the nakago are some shots of the hamachi area showing a long yakidashi, the boshi, and some activities in between. Regards, Hoanh Quote
Nobody Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 應需 西村正路 鍛之 西村正路 (Nishimura Masamichi) is the name of the person who ordered the blade. Quote
hxv Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 Thank you Moriyama san. Regards, Hoanh Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Moriyama San, is it possible that the blade was ordered by somebody else, and that Nishimura Masamichi made it? (There are three smiths signing 正路 listed in the 日本刀銘鑑 for example.) Quote
Nobody Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Thanks Piers, I did not think that possibility. Now I think that your theory is more reasonable. Nishimura Masamichi may be the smith's name. Quote
hxv Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 Thank you Piers and Moriyama san Regards, Hoanh Quote
