I also appreciate it that when I ask questions which I consider are good ones that people either kindly answer or don't respond, instead of actively brushing them off ;)

Trent,

I must have missed something, as I haven't seen you asking a single question in this thread. But you make statements with great confidence...

It was on another thread when you suggested that I was off topic and rolled your eyes. :) I may have been but I don't think that is was going to detract from the conversation.

what should have been learned from the get go, pass on by the big hunker of a blister...then this thread would not have been ...and been ...and been. Maybe there is a lesson in here, do you know what it is Steve?

Your comment made me laugh a lot really good +1 :o :D

I have always found the kashima sisters to be totally honest and they always help new comers like me out whenever I have asked them questions , even thoughs that are not connected to any of their sales but a private purchase and I wanted their opinion.

Personally I would buy the sword if I had offered a price to buy.

I don't renig on my offers.

That didn't last long... And sadly neither will your reputation in this very small circle of buyers and sellers. I'm not trying to be mean, but there is a lot of trust in this environment (shipping a sword thousands of miles based on a payment that could potentially be reversed or paying thousands of dollars when the sword is not in hand) and whether buying or selling a reputation is something hugely important. When I first saw your comment, I thought, "You know what, maybe a hasty decision, but you have to respect the guy's integrity."

Now, if I am ever selling something that you offer to buy; I will, as will most, remember this post.

To sum up Joe, this hobby is based on trust and reliability. I am sure I am not the only NMB member but I have bought several swords or several Tsuba on my word which were sent to me before Sellers got the payment.

I'm newly returned to the forum after a fair absence, and have stood aside from this topic watching as it were with some rising concern.

From the beginning it was a hasty and ill concieved purchase by Steve, but having made an undertaking as he did, it should be either honoured or at least discussed with the seller before a refusal to honour a commitment is even considered, much less stated openly in this forum.

If nothing else I am astounded that integrity has such a small price tag. I have always valued it much higher than a paltry $1500 US.

The blade may not be worth saving, but your personal reputation certainly is.

Having the two of you chastise me so thoroughly is frankly very upsetting. To make a mistake that follows me for the rest of my life was something I certainly never considered. If you look at my ebay account I think you'll see this is just one time against many, many positive experiences. Is there any way to make up for this?

Joe, Jean and Sanjuro. Three people who I've talked to over the years and offered me advice and now I have lost any respect you had for me. The worse part is there are almost certainly many others who've seen this and chosen not to comment.

I appreciate what you've all said. I'll contact the sisters and make this right if I can. I know that won't change anything but you've forced me to see something in myself I really don't like.

Thank you.

I just sent this email to Sumie.

Dear Sumie. I feel shame that I asked for my money back. I was wrong. Please do not send it back. I made a deal and I want to do this little bit to show my sorrow.

Sincerely,

Steven Bone

All is not lost. There are few things that can not be repaired, made right. We all have done things in haste that we have regretted in leisure. Don't fret it too much. John

Time heals all wounds, and lessons learned, so many want to save every sword they see. its a learning process as to which ones. This too shall pass.

No problem...We are all human, and human nature being what it is, we all do things which in hindsight we may regret. I am sure the Kashima sisters will not judge you too harshly, and likewise here on the forum. If one is in the fortunate position to be able to redeem oneself as you have done, then conscience is the only consequence.

If you have not already done so, It may be worth a phone call to Usagiya to aquaint them personally with the situation.

Move onward toward the sword you really want. Sometimes, the sword you really want will find you.
