nagamaki - Franco Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Good morning, Cannot recall ever seeing tadpole menuki before, be that as it may, I would venture a guess that they would come back as Reveal hidden contents Kyo Kinko , if submitted for shinsa. Thanks for sharing (which goes out to all who post images of their goodies as well here on NMB). Quote
b.hennick Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 I have an iron tadpole menuki that has been converted: Here is a link to photos http://www.nihonto.us/KAERI%20ZUNO%20&% ... DPOLES.htm Quote
MauroP Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Hi everybody, I don't know why but tadpoles (katō - 蝌蚪) are not so uncommon in tōsōgu representation: Tsuba A is mine; tsuba B from Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford; menuki C from http://www.toukenkomachi.com/image/B040514-2.jpg ; tsuba D from http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20189/l ... ference=14. Bye, Mauro Quote
lonely panet Posted June 3, 2014 Author Report Posted June 3, 2014 Hi everyone, thanks for the info in the menuki. the story about these is I noticed a crappy WAK on ebay not getting any bids, I noticed the menuki and the quality of them. long story short, paid $200AUD, for the WAK just to get the menuki so I think I did well thanks again for your help gentleman regards Hamish Quote
