Mark C Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Hi all, I have just aquired a new Tsuba that was on a wakazashi that I found in a local sale and wondered if I could ask for some help with it as I know next to nothing about Tsuba . width is 2 9/16 (66mm) Height is 2 3/4 (70mm) Thickness is just under 3/16 (4mm) Any help, greatly appreciated. Rich T Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 The iron looks homogenous, and it is not very thick, so I would think it would be mid to late Edo, it is a classic Owari/Kyo Sukashi design of wild geese flying, and I think might would be a copy of one of those works. The geese are quite crude, there are no signs of ever being worn, as in tagane-ato or any sort of wear around the nakago ana. It would probably paper as Shoami in this day and age.
