Marius Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Cast copy, sorry. Tell-tale signs: porosity of material, blurred "signature", and last not least, this typically odd look of the seppa-dai. Casting seems are often removed by filing, so a lack thereof is no proof that the tsuba is real. Quote
ancientnoob Posted April 7, 2014 Author Report Posted April 7, 2014 Thank you for your time. Cast copy confirmed. Much appreciated. Nathan M. Quote
Marius Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Nathan, here are a few examples of cast iron copies: http://www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/tsubacastiron.html BTW, Usagiya's site (http://www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/) is very educational and fun to read, so you might want to have a go at both "Information" and "News".
