Josh man Posted March 23, 2014 Author Report Posted March 23, 2014 Here is a Mei picture (for some reason I cant get this to show up, but it shows up fine if I click on it via the forum) Quote
Josh man Posted March 23, 2014 Author Report Posted March 23, 2014 Only other picture I could get off the forum this is for sale on (the rest I couldn't save as, Im fairly computer illiterate). Quote
Josh man Posted March 23, 2014 Author Report Posted March 23, 2014 I was told by a friend who is extremely knowlegeble in nihonto that he has never seen this smith, so i figured I would post it on here to see if any of you gentlemen know this smith. Im sure this isnt enough to determine if the blade is traditionally forged or a machined piece (I will attempt to get more, my laptop and wifi are absolute garbage) Thanks in advance, and sorry if the answer to some of this is obvious. I've done a fair amount of reading, but im still fairly new at these (I'm mostly into WWII Japanese rifles, but am slowly getting into Nihonto). Quote
Brian Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 Josh, Need a pic of the nakago so we can at least begin by verifying if the mei reading is correct. Shimosaka Kuniaki or...? Brian Quote
Josh man Posted March 23, 2014 Author Report Posted March 23, 2014 Roger that. I will email the seller and ask for more pictures (he posted quite a few, but for some reason I couldn't save them onto my computer). Quote

k morita Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Hi, "Hozumi(family name) Kunuaki(保泉 圀明) in Chiba" appears in the name list of the 1st gunto exhibition in 1943. However, he is using not Kuni 國 but another character Kuni 圀.(meaning is same). Maybe same smith. ?????? Quote
Stephen Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 one in question, message from seller no stamp Quote
k morita Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Mei says "Kuniaki, living in Shimousa province". Shimousa province is present-day Chiba prefecture. Quote
