After nearly 20 years the Earthlink version of the Japanese Sword Index will be not more.

I'm dropping Earthlink and loosing JSI as a result. But thanks to Brian, it will live on on

his server. Please change you bookmarks and webpage links to:

The Japanese Sword Index

Many, many thanks to Brian for hosting and preserving the work of so

many folks contributing to the knowledge of Nihonto.

Yup, that fixed it - thanks, Derek. Interestingly, all of my links to the many sections I've visited still show up.

Our sword club uses your information all the time as we teach members about Nihonto, Rich, so I add my thanks to Brian for rehosting your Web-site.

Great!!

many thanks to you both! It's nice to see your great site available all the time, although the earthlink hosting was great, some months you would get so much traffic you wouild reach your data limit and the site would go offline temporarely :( But that is just a testament to how great and valued your website remains to be.

Also, it's nice to know my next donations will go to the preservation of BOTH websites in a way

I offered to host the site a while ago, and Rich was hesitant in taking up the offer, as I think he is very humble. But I persisted, in the name of keeping it up all the time with no bandwidth limitations and he finally accepted. This was a while ago, so now I am quite happy to continue to host it. But the page will remain Rich's work..I am merely hosting it and giving it a place to continue.

I suggest everyone update their links page to this url: http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/

From there, you can enter, and go to: http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/nihonto.htm

Please spread the word to all websites so they can update their links.

Glad to be able to help, but Remember it is still Rich's page.

Your page was the very first one I ever came across when I was bitten by the bug all those years ago. Its been a downward spiral of spending and drooling :Drooling: over Nihonto for me ever since .............and I wouldn't change a thing! I am greatly pleased that It will be there for future generations and equally thankful that it is being hosted here. :thanks:

I add my thank you to Rich as well. Your site remains a great source for all information - nihonto. If you look on messageboard you will see it referenced frequently. Brian thank you to you for maintaining this great resource.

Me too! Many thanks, Rich. You really and truly changed sword collecting. I assumed you would seel it to Google and retire to Bimini. I am glad it is still out there for us.

Many thanks to you Rich S., me too, I came across your website years ago and thus began to see what goods were available around the world Nihontowise. From a tiny, narrow French market, I directly land on the worldwide market. I found then the Nihonto Message Board administrated at this time by Rich Turner, we miss him, and then he passed the Board administration to Brian who convinced Rich S. To have his website hosted by NMB.

What a world, and what guys. What you have done, you the Rich (S and T) and you Brian shall be remembered for decades and we westerners owe you billion thanks to have been able to draw on this Board so many experts.

PS: Should stop drinking at dinner, I am becoming sentimental :D

Thanks to Dr. Stein for creating what is not only an early (maybe the earliest?) significant website on nihontō, but one which remains perpetually useful for both beginners and long-time students of the subject. And thanks to Brian for hosting it so that we never again have to see that bandwidth exceeded notice. :-)

Hi Rich S.,

Thanks for the note. I will update my bookmarks for the website. It was helpful in research my one and only Nihonto which is a gendaito.

Hi Rich,

I too add my thank you for your fine, informative site and your quiet integrity in the hosting and administration of it.

It has been of great value to the education of the nihonto collector community.

warmest regards,

I can only add my thanks and I am glad to be able to do so on this thread. For all the years I have been clicking on the site and returning to it again and again. Very many thanks for a job well done.

All the best.

The entire internet still has the old links to the old page that is gone now. Going to be a while before the web spyders update links and they all have the new page.

Until then, most searches will reference the old page.
