Peter Bleed Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 All right, gang, give me some practical advice. Others have have sought advce on purchases on eBay, from various online dealers, etc etc. What good is the NMB, if i can't ask a - hammm - practical question!!! I just got a call from a - well - slick. He offered me an 1850 field officers' sword (which i will put at $250) AND an aluminum handled Japanese non-com sword with NO saya, AND a saya (only) for a type 32 Army cavalry sword. So here's the question... should I invest 150 in the bare noncom sword and the singleton scabbard. Quckly, colleagues, the timer is running on this one! Peter Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 You should make out alright. You'll need to find an orphan NCO scabbard, but ASSUMING, the NCO is legit, the mismatched saya and sword should take care of the rest. Big assumption since the Chinese are getting better and better at faking them. I don't doubt that you know what you're buying, but if you have any doubts, let this one lie. Quote
Mark Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Sure! a NCO sword w/scabbard and an odd scabbard can sell for more than $150. just look at the NCO some of the fakes are getting close Quote
Peter Bleed Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 Joe and Mark, Thank you. The Board worked. Peter Quote
