Edward G Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 The following are pictures of a gendaito tang. Please help translate the sword smiths name and verify the date, I believe the date side says 1937. As always Many Thanks!!! Edward G. Quote
Bazza Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 SHIGENORI KIN SAKU - respectfully made by Shigenori. The date is quite elementary Edward, gambatte kudasai... Bestests, BaZZa. Quote
Edward G Posted January 25, 2014 Author Report Posted January 25, 2014 Thank You my friend, you are lifesaver! Edward G : :D Quote
Jean Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 ......kore Edward G. You are a lazy guy, it is so elementary you could have found it by yourself with the kanji pages. The two kanji "shige" and "nori" have been already translated thousand time. There is even an on-going topic about a smith named: Nori...tsugu. Use Kanji pages at the top of the page, next time :D Quote
k morita Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Hi, This smith was Sato(family name) Shigenori,lived in Akita prefecture. 佐 藤 重 則 10+2+2=? Quote
Gabriel L Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 As Morita-san is hinting, the date is not 1937… big hint: Reveal hidden contents It's considered unlucky to write 四 shi = 4 as shi is a homonym for death. Quote
