Hello and good day to all. I have recently purchased a nice katana and am having trouble with the tsuba? i have looked some resource books i have as well as crounched quite a bit of time on the net trying to find a similar one, no luck! im very green when it comes to tsubas and cant even tell if this is authentic or not? your comments on age,authenticity,ect.. is very much appreciated, thank you in advance,Jeremy

My own personal opinion..not cast, and genuine. But of average quality and "factory type plate" construcction. Just your run of the mill real tsuba.

Hello all

I also have a tsuba very similar.

maybe late edo and ive heard that maybe a symbol of family crest of mon?

I had a similar example and posted it on the forums a few months ago. I believe Umetada was one of the possible options of the tsuba like Peter's. I believe these do represent a family crest of two butterfly antennae to antennae...its actually the family crest used by a friend in the local club.
