laurent Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Dear all, I got round taking pics of some items I'd really like to have identified As a bonus there's also a NTBHK paper. If someone could translate it, that'd be awesome. many thanks for your help! Tsuba 1: (bakufu produced I'd say) Tsuba 2: Shakudo nanako Tsuba with Shishi and Botan Signed Hidemitsu of Omori (I Think?) and kao Fuchi: Yari: Saya: If you know which family used this mon? Tsuba NTBHK: Thanks a lot! Laurent Quote
Jean Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Laurent, Before getting a straight answer, which will bring you nothing in knowledge, try to get the answer from: http://www.jssus.org/nkp/index.html All necessary help will be given to you should you encounter any difficulties. The kanji are very well chiselled. Quote
laurent Posted December 31, 2013 Author Report Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks for the link Jean, will do. It'll keep me busy for sometime For the first Tsuba though I doubt being able to read it; only recognize a "e" and nothing else. That's the one I prefer in my collection so I hope to identify it someday. Brought it when I was in Japan this summer to a pro; he could not identify it either. Quote
Jean Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Start with the easiest, the yari and the fuchi :D Quote

laurent Posted December 31, 2013 Author Report Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks! For the yari I tried to find the missing ones: Yari: 出羽大掾??国道作 => 出羽大掾(採文科?)国道作 => Dewa OJotorumontoga kunimichi Saku ? Fuchi: 紋乗?? => Ayanori?? Sorry, I'm not used to this exercise so it is actually quite hard as a start Quote
Jean Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Try with this Laurent, http://www.sho-shin.com/titles.htm Quote

Veli Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 Good work so far Laurent! This is more complicated, however; I do not see Fujiwara... Veli Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 Good work so far Laurent! This is more complicated, however; I do not see Fujiwara... Veli agree : dewa daijo ?? kunimichi saku nanako tsuba : Hidemitsu can also be read as Terumitsu Quote

laurent Posted January 1, 2014 Author Report Posted January 1, 2014 doesn't look like Fujiwara, however it is the only signature which has exactly all the over elements. Pupil? Name change at at later/earlier stage of the career? Can't make the Fuchi out for the last 2 kanjis, don't find them either with the radicals or stroke counts Tsuba2: Omori Hidemitsu however I do not think it is it, or a second generation; examples I found were mostly signed Omori Hidemitsu, not Hidemitsu alone and the Kao was different. However the Kao style, signature style and position were right.... Terumitsu look like using another Kanji for his signatures http://www.sho-shin.com/biz-han1.html Or not... http://www.shibuiswords.com/haynesTsu17.htm Hmmm... for the Origami; it is a nanban Tsuba but I don't know what else the paper says Quote

laurent Posted January 1, 2014 Author Report Posted January 1, 2014 Thanks, don't own it. I'll buy it some time, but as you have noticed I am just a mere newbie, so it is a bit early for me to justify the investment Can't see the Kao of the Tsuba. Thanks Thierry, I'll check that. Anyway thanks to all, gathered a lot of very useful links since yesterday! The second kiss cool effect of the original thread Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 Good morning Laurent, The Kamon on your Saya looks like Maruni Sanbon Sugi and is usually displayed the other way up. I believe it's a depiction of Cedar Leaves. Cheers Quote
