Brian Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Saw this one online, and was just wondering whose origami are these? I too a look at Rich's origami page, but can't identify them. can anyone make out who the maker is? I think it is a Gendaito, but not sure who. Are these perhaps dealer's papers? Thanks, Brian http://nas4.atlanta.gbhinc.com/GB/07485 ... 534093.jpg Quote
Nobody Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 That is a paper which was issued by Token Shibata (刀剣柴田) and sigened by late Shibata Mitsuo (柴田光男). Quote
Brian Posted June 29, 2007 Author Report Posted June 29, 2007 Thank you very much Moriyama san. That makes sense. Attractive looking papers.. Can you perhaps make out who the smith is? Brian Quote
Rich T Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Shimura Naotake 便村 直剛?. I thought it might say Shoshin 正真 underneath but I am sure that's not right. I also agree the date looks to be Showa something. It's very hard to read and I may have the kanji wrong, I have no gendai books. That's just my guess. It is probably wrong. Cheers Rich Quote
Nobody Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 Although I am unsure about its first 2 or 3 characters, the mei on the paper seems to be as follows; 刀 銘 (Katana, Mei): 村 x x 刀鍛錬道場 正永 (x x x katana tanren-dojo Masanaga), 昭和二十年一月日 (the 1st month of 1945). Other descriptions on the paper say that Masanaga was a Rikugun-jumei-toko (陸軍受命刀工) in Showa era and resided in Kobe (神戸). Blade lenght is "2 shaku 1 sun 6 bu". Quote
Rich T Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 I wasn't even close, nice work Koichi. Rich Quote
Nobody Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 I wasn't even close, nice work Koichi. Thanks Rich, but it is nothing. Every Japanese can read kanji. Quote
