cabowen Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 the Kotani Yasunori blade on ebay? I was surprised to see it reach close to $6000 despite the poor condition with chips and bends. When I looked again later in the day, I couldn't find the auction... Was curious to see what it went for.... Quote
hxv Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 Chris, I saw the auction, but the risk/reward ratio was too high for me after the 3rd bid. Hoanh Quote
cabowen Posted November 30, 2013 Author Report Posted November 30, 2013 So I wasn't imagining it! I agree, the price was hard to comprehend when considering the condition. Maybe I have overlooked it, but perhaps the seller withdrew it as I can not find it in the completely auctions...Hard to imagine them doing that with the level it was at...Strange... Quote
J Reid Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 Sometimes ebay removes or ends auctions that exceed sellers monthly sales limits. I had a sword that hit 7k once and this is what happened to me. Quote
cabowen Posted December 7, 2013 Author Report Posted December 7, 2013 Wow, never heard of that...seems self-defeating. Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 Who was the seller ? If it was the Japan-premium-seller-trading-assistant it might have been sold via Yahoo auctions first. KM Quote
hxv Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 Josh: All I can say is "OUCH!" KM: No, the sword was listed as being in the US. Regards, Hoanh Quote
J Reid Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 Yes it was definitely an interesting experience. Luckily I was still able to push the sale through (via email and paypal) as there was still a winning bidder. It seemed that the auction was still listed under my sales, yet it's listing was removed from the watchers list. An email was also sent by ebay to myself urging me to not go through with the sale as it was considered "high risk" (he had only 2 feedback) and then they deleted his ebay account..? I took a huge leap of faith when I shipped due to the fact he was willing to provide insurance references and SSN and paid promptly. It turned out to be one of the best transactions I've had and I made a large a profit. Quote
