Bernard Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Hello everybody, I end my posts with pics of this tsuba ( 6.5cm X 6cm), symbolizing my wishes of longevity to the NMB. I always read your replies with the greatest interest. It was a wonderful experience to be able to share the small collection of my father with people sharing the passion and enthusiasm he had himself for Japanese art. THANKS to all the highly educated, generous and friendly members who replied my posts and helped me to better understand and enjoy these objects. As I do not consider, at least presently, adding to my father’s collection, this is probably my last topic, but I ‘ll continue to read yours and to contribute modestly to the upkeep of this great forum. Best regards. Bernard D Quote
raven2 Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Another very nice piece, Bernard. Quote
Curran Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 It is a shame this is the last one. It has been a nice slideshow. I appreciate his aesthetic in his choices, and I wish he had been a member here. Quote
Brian Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Indeed, couldn't agree more. It was great experiencing your father's collection at the same time you were learning to appreciate it. Especially with no commercial aspect. I think he must have been collecting during one of those golden eras where good Japanese items were freely available to those with a good eye. Thanks for sharing with us Bernard. Brian Quote
Justin Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Thanks for sharing your father's collection Bernard. Some great pieces. We hope you can stay part of the NMB community. Quote
Surfson Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 I would like to echo Justin's sentiment Bernard. Thanks for sharing a great collection with us. Quote
raven2 Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 One last thing I would like to add Bernard, is that the tsubas you have shown us are not usually in schools that are my favorites but I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of the ones you have shown us. Please stay with the board and enjoy and learn. Quote
Soshin Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 Bernard D., I have very much loved the tsuba you have listed from your father's collection. Thank you so much! :D Quote

Gabriel L Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 Your father had a lovely collection. I’m glad you seem to appreciate your inheritance* and thanks for posting these interesting and attractive pieces. *I know someone whose father collected kodogu, but then they passed on to my acquaintance’s sister… who pawned them or turned them into brooches etc. The sister was none too pleased about it but couldn’t do anything either.
